When the horizontal bar is stationary, does the horizontal pointer at the far right end of the horizontal bar point to the central zero point of the dial? If the pointer happens to be on the zero scale, the Triple beam balance has been zeroed and can be used. If the pointer points below the zero scale, lock the fixed lock and turn the adjusting screw of the balance adjuster to move it to the left until the fixed lock is opened and the pointer is just at the zero scale. If the pointer is above the zero scale, move the adjustment screw to the right.
Measuring mass (weighing): lock the fixed lock, and place the object to be measured in the center of the object pan. If the object will corrode the weighing pan, use a suitable container or paper to cover it. Estimate the mass (weight) of the object, move the weight on the corresponding scale of the estimated mass, open the fixed lock, determine whether the mass of the object is greater or less than the estimated mass by the balance position of the pointer, change or move the weights on the three horizontal bars The position of the yard until the crossbar is balanced and the pointer is just at the zero scale. And from the position of the weight on the three horizontal bars, the mass value of the object is read.
Repeat the above steps, measure the mass of the object to be tested three times, obtain the average value, and use significant figures to indicate its mass.
